Class Descriptions

Unmounted Classes

1.    Steer Dummy Roping – Contestant will get to throw 3 loops at a designated distance from the dummy. Points will be given Slick head- 3 points, Half Head or Neck -2 points, Horn is 1 point. In the event of a tie the contestants that have ties will have a rope off.

2.    Breakaway Dummy Roping – Contestant will get throw 3 loops at a designated distance from the dummy. Neck-2-points Ear is 1 point in the event of a tie the contestant will have a rope off.

3.    Goat Ribbon Pull – The contestant stands behind designated distance from the goat and runs to the goat pulls the ribbon off. This is a timed event with a 45 second time limit.

4.    Stick Pony Barrel Race – The contestant stands behind a designated distance runs a clover leaf pattern while on their stick horse. Contestants can either start the pattern to the left or right. The fastest time wins.

5.    Unmounted Flags – Contestant starts behind a designated distance from the barrel with a flag. The contestant then runs to the barrel sticks the flag into the bucket then runs to the next barrel picks up the flag run backs across the start line. The fastest time wins.

Mounted Classes

1.     Halter Showmanship – Contestant will show their horse in a halter only. Taking instructions from judge/ring master. Contestant is judged. Focus will be on the contestants ability to present and control the horse. Judged on poise, confidence, and the horse's willingness and responsiveness. Key elements include correctly handling the lead and demonstrating precise maneuvers like walking, trotting, stopping, backing, and setting the horse up for inspection. Contestant will also be judged on neat appearance, the grooming of the horse, and proper equipment.

2. Lead Line - Rider will be lead by a qualitied handler. Contestants will exhibit the horse/pony at a walk in both directions. Contestants will be judges on rider confidence, handler ability, and presentation. Judge will look for riders to hold reins, handler to lead properly, neat attire, and proper equipment. Judge may ask the rider a question, for example, the name of the horse/pony.

3.     Trail Course - Judges Class. Riders will be judged on their ability to maneuver a course of obstacles. Obstacles will be a variety or this that may consist of logs, gates, bridges, tarps, inflatables, cones, and more. Contestants must execute the course in a safe and controlled manner while maintaining a calm demeanor. The course pattern will be posted before the show and may differ for each age division. WALK TROT ONLY. This is not a timed class however, there will be a set time limit.

4.     Ranch Class Judges Class. Contestant will demonstrate their ability to ride and handle their horse. Rider’s will take orders from the judge. Age divisions 6 & under as well as 7-11 will be shown at a walk and trot. The 12 - 18 and Open division will be asked to show at a walk, trot, and lope. All divisions will show in both directions and may be asked to back their horse.

5.      Flags Race – Timed Event. To Race through the course mounted horseback. Deposit the flag in the first bucket, retrieve a flag from the second bucket and cross the finish line. Automatic NO Time will be awarded for using flag as a whip, dropping the flag,

and/ or knocking the barrel over.

6.    Special Class - Each Month we will have a special class. It will change each month.

7.    Mounted Goat tying – Contestant rides horseback across the start line, run to where the goat is tethered, dismount, catch, throw, and tie any three legs and do this in the shortest amount of time possible. **In the 6 - under division the contestants will not catch, throw, and tie the goat. These contestants will only have to remove the ribbon from the goat and run across the finish line.

8.    Pole Bending – The contestant takes horse through the standard pole bending pattern in the shortest time possible. There will be a 5 second penalty for each pole that is knocked down. A broken pattern will result in a NO TIME.

9.    Barrel Racing – The contestant shall race their horse through a standard clover-leaf barrel pattern and do it in the quickest time possible. A 5 second penalty will be added for each barrel that may be knocked over. A broken pattern will result in a NO TIME.

10.   Mounted Dummy Team Roping – A team can consist of 2 youth or 1 adult/ 1 youth. Contestants can rope either end however,   they cannot rope with the same person twice on the same side. Contestants will not be allowed to fish the rope on the head side or heel side; a miss is a miss. The team will start from the head and heel boxes just like normal team roping. The header is to catch the head of the dummy a qualified catch is a slick horn, half head, or a neck. For the heeler a legal catch is a leg, 2 legs or pantyhose. Time will start by electric eye time will stop when the flagger flags a legal heel catch.

Little Wrangler Horse Show Rules

1. Age Divisions will be based on the age of the contestant on January 1, 2025.

2. Little Wranglers Horse Show Organizers & Staff as well as Rockin' Chair Ranch and owners are NOT RESPONSIBLE for any accidents, injuries, or loss. (Missouri RSMo Section 537.325)

3. Any Classes with added money Must Have a Minimum of 10 entries for the money to be added.

4. No Alcoholic Beverages.

5. Entries must be in by 8pm on Wednesday the week of the show. A $5 late fee will be added to any late entries.

6. You must check in at the show office before your classes.

7. All state laws concerning exhibition requirements for equine must be followed. The owner of each animal shall comply with requirements under this section 267.010 to 267.730, RSMo.

8. Horse show management reserves the right to disqualify anyone considered to be unruly or unsportsmanlike, showing threating behavior, or any form of animal abuse. People that exhibit this behavior will be asked to leave the show grounds.

9. A rider with multiple horses: A single rider can enter the same class or event multiple times, provided they compete with a different horse on each entry.

10. A horse with multiple riders: In some events, a single horse can be ridden by more than one competitor. If two different contestants in the same age division share the same horse.
